May 1, 2010 In the past 10 days we have burned and cut back the 1st growth of both Hop Yards. The Cascade yard has been tilled the Chinook yard would be to but it has snowed-THATS RIGHT SNOWED the past 4 days !
We expect to start stringing ropes next weekend.I have 18000 + layed out in the orchard behind the house with a sprinkler on them to relax the fibers. If anyone is around Paonia and wants to volunteer to help they are welcome.Food and refreshments will be provided.Kind of a mini workshop !
Friday May 28 Rope stringing will be done this weekend !!! Wind has been killing us !!

Well we had a pea size hail storm this morning , I took it pretty bad when I saw the plants and all the broken tips . Talked with a grower friends in Idaho and Oregon and both said just wrap the new shoot that comes out below the broken tip and all will be fine .
